Privam Estate is a true family affair, where passion and family come together. At the helm is Patrick Makundi, the heart, face, and skilled cupper of the family, while his wife, Rita, is the driving force who makes it all happen. Rita’s mother serves as the farm manager, and the family extends across brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, and cousins. Raised in Embu County and deeply rooted in coffee, Rita and Patrick returned home to establish Privam Estate in 2012. Over two generations, the family united 23 acres of small parcels on a high plateau with stunning views of Mt. Kenya. By 2018, they secured their own pulping license, breaking away from the local cooperative to invest in a wet mill, transforming their vision into a thriving reality.
